My experience with “Fun Mode”

July 10, 2010

So I enabled fun mode a few days ago. And I still don’t know what it does, somewhat. 😐 Still, I’m enjoying and expecting (good) surprises as I play along. 😀

For those of you who don’t know, it’s a WordPress (WP.com only) feature that is actually quite vague. It doesn’t have any concise description as a setting, and when enabled you won’t see the effects immediately. Technically speaking, it’s just an easter egg. Metaphorically speaking, it’s a way to experience “serendipity” if you truly love blogging.

If you’re only going to enable it if you want to see for yourself, without the “sincerity” in loving your blogging experience, then you’d probably be disappointed in this feature. Otherwise, you’re in for a thrill. 😉

So far, what I’ve seen after enabling it is the addition of the “Humanize” tab in the Blog Stats. I don’t know what it does yet, so I can’t say much.

Other things I’ve seen include a “This post is super-awesome” checkbox when publishing a post. I checked it once but nothing happened. One time, the Publish button doubled its size, but when I added a new post, it went back to normally. Somewhat creepy, but interesting nonetheless.

And if you were looking for hints on what to expect in Fun mode, trust me, you’re just ruining the fun for yourself. Half the thrill in this WP feature is finding the new stuff that you normally don’t see. It’s for blogaholics, so to speak. 😉

If you own a WP.com blog and love blogging, don’t hesitate to try this out. Have fun! 😀

  1. Did you ever find out what it did? I would like to know! 🙂

  2. i just enabled it, did’nt find the himanize tab though :/
